Just devastating news, as Hall of Famer and original Mets broadcaster Ralph Kiner passed away today at the age of 91.
I grew up watching Ralphie as part of the McCarver/Kiner tandem on New York's WOR-TV broadcasts of Mets games. His voice is one I'll always associate with those wonderful lazy summer afternoons from my childhood, when I'd watch Doc and Darryl, Gary and Keith, and the rest of my baseball idols on the tube.
Truly, baseball lost one of its true princes today.
Rest in Peace, Ralph.
