2016 Diamond Kings

Here's yet another example of baseball cards being A-OK even without an official MLB license.

A month or so ago I picked up the Mets team set of 2016 Panini Diamond Kings at my local card show.  There are only four Amazins in the base checklist, so it wasn't a huge effort or investment on my part.

As you can see, these cards are beautifully done.  More like miniature works of art than trading cards.  And that's what Diamond Kings are supposed to be about, right?

No quibble about the player selections here.  If you'e going to go meat 'n potatoes, this is a foursome you really can't argue with.

Apparently there's an image variation of Michael Conforto's card.  I guess I'll try to track that down eventually, but it won't be at the top of my priority list.  I don't even know how difficult it will be to acquire.  If it's anything like the Topps variations, I'll be gnashing my teeth.

Anyhow, these are terrific looking cards and fine additions to my collection.  Full marks to Panini on this product!

  1. Totally agree with you, this was a very solid effort by Panini. If these had logos they'd be in the running for some of my favorite cards of 2016 so far...

  2. The image variations shouldn't be too hard to track down. I picked up Baez' and Soler's from last year's set for pretty cheap.
